Breakfast at Casa Ledux
Casa Ledux does brunch and it’s done to perfection. I visited shortly after opening time mid-week and I was served by Chef Alexandre himself! Dishes were immaculately presented and absolutely delicious. The iced coffee constructed with layers of espresso, sparkling water, and orange juice was mind blowing. I ordered a dish with poached egg and a salmon toast. I’ve had countless brunch dishes but not quite like the way that Chef Alexandre prepares and presents. All dishes are served in hand-crafted ceramics.
A7MA Gallery
A7MA gallery works with 300+ artists all over the world and you really could spend hours appreciating the craft of each individual artist. Gallery staff is very friendly and knowledgeable so don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation and ask away!
Hippie Market
What would Vila Madalena be without a hippie market? The market is located near the entrance to the Batman Alley and definitely worth a visit. Purchase a refreshment from one of the vendors and start to tick items off your souvenir or gift list.
Shihoma Pasta Fresca
Shihoma is a beloved mainstay of the neighborhood and it was recommended to me by several of the locals that I had the pleasure of meeting. The menu had fun and interesting creations (e.g. poached pasta-egg?) as well as the classics.
Pinguina Sorveteria
Summer in São Paulo can be scorching hot – what better way to cool down than with a double scoop of exotic fruits! The only way to describe the sorbet at Pinguina is that it’s not a flavored sorbet. Each scoop is an exotic fruit in sorbet form – pure and undiluted. The owner sources various fruits across Brazil from independent growers. I’ve never tasted anything like it!
Batman Alley
Tourist attractions can be hit or miss. Batman Alley (Beco de Batman) did not disappoint. On weekends, the alley is packed with locals and visitors alike with an outdoor party atmosphere. Weekdays are perfect for leisurely stroll while appreciating the artistry and message behind each mural. There are bars, vendors, art galleries that dot the length of the alley so you could easily spend a few hours. Make sure to take a selfie with Bat Girl!
Coffee Lab
I’ve had one of the best iced coffees at Coffee Lab. A knowledgeable barista will guide you through variety of coffee beans and preparations. The interior is nice and relaxed with plenty of seating, perfect for a moment of peace while you figure out your next move.

Backyard of Simple Pleasures
Backyard is simply a space for gathering. I loved my conversations with the friendly staff. Front terrace is perfect for relaxing while having a refreshing drink from the all day bar & cafe. You can also check out cool clothes and accessories from niche brands on the ground floor or head upstairs to the rooftop for an amazing panoramic view of Vila Madalena. Co-kitchen and co-working spaces are also available. Be sure to check-out their parties held on Fridays and Saturdays.
Lobozo
Lobozo is another institution in Vila Madalena. Octopus in vinaigrette and slices of freshly baked bread with olive oil was heavenly. Chicken quarter with side potato salad is what this restaurant is known for so make sure to try it!
